PURIFY (Bergamot, Sage, Rosemary, Hyssop) 7oz
Verse:
Psalm 51:7
“Cleanse me with hyssop, and I shall be clean; wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.”
Biblical Oil:
Hyssop
Meaning:
Hyssop, is an herb that is native to the Mediterranean region, mentioned several times in the Old and New Testaments of the Bible. David wrote Psalm 51 after he committed adultery with Bathsheba and had her husband killed. In this piece of Scripture, David confesses and pleads forgiveness from God.
In the New Testament, hyssop was an instrument of comfort for Jesus as he hung on the cross and shed His blood to cleanse us of our sin. John 19:29-30 - “A jar of wine vinegar was there, so they soaked a sponge in it, put the sponge on a stalk of the hyssop plant, and lifted it to Jesus’ lips. When he had received the drink, Jesus said, ‘It is finished.’ With that, he bowed his head and gave up his spirit.”
The Hebrew word for "purify" is leh-tah-HEHR" which is an active-intense verb that means to make something clean, clear, purge, or cleanse. It can mean to go from unclean (or shameful) to spiritually and physically pure. Hyssop in the Bible represents forgiveness and purification. God desires His people to be clean, pure and holy. But of course, due to our sin nature, we continually fall short of His standard. But in His perfect nature, the Bible reveals that God has many promises about renewing us in heart and mind. "I will sprinkle clean water on you, and you will be clean; I will cleanse you from all your impurities and from all your idols. I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you..." (Ezekiel 36:25-26).
