Anointing the Home:
Having anointing oil in the home is a beautiful way to remember our Messiah and how His body was anointed for burial with Spikenard oil. Feeling connected to the holy land gives a tangible connection to Him and His powerful healing and presence. Anointing oils, often times, are used as a representation of the presence of His Holy Spirit.
Biblical Oils:
Spikenard is known for the oil that Mary used to boldly pour over Jesus' head before he was crucified and to this day, symbolizes a fragrant act of love and worship.
Verse referencing Spikenard Oil: Mark 14:2-9
"Now the Passover and the Festival of Unleavened Bread were only two days away, and the chief priests and the teachers of the law were scheming to arrest Jesus secretly and kill him. 2 “But not during the festival,” they said, “or the people may riot.” 3 While he was in Bethany, reclining at the table in the home of Simon the Leper, a woman came with an alabaster jar of very expensive perfume, made of pure nard. She broke the jar and poured the perfume on his head. 4 Some of those present were saying indignantly to one another, “Why this waste of perfume? 5 It could have been sold for more than a year’s wages and the money given to the poor.” And they rebuked her harshly.
6 “Leave her alone,” said Jesus. “Why are you bothering her? She has done a beautiful thing to me. 7 The poor you will always have with you, and you can help them any time you want. But you will not always have me. 8 She did what she could. She poured perfume on my body beforehand to prepare for my burial. 9 Truly I tell you, wherever the gospel is preached throughout the world, what she has done will also be told, in memory of her.”
Verses on anointing:
"Then Samuel took the horn of oil and anointed him in the midst of his brothers; and the Spirit of the LORD came upon David from that day forward. So Samuel arose and went to Ramah." (1 Samuel 16:13)
"The Spirit of the Sovereign LORD is on me, because the LORD has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners." (Isaiah 61:1)
"Is anyone among you sick? He should call for the elders of the church, and they should pray over him after anointing him with olive oil in the name of the Lord." (James 5:14)
"But Christ has blessed you with the Holy Spirit. Now the Spirit stays in you, and you don’t need any teachers. The Spirit is truthful and teaches you everything. So stay one in your heart with Christ, just as the Spirit has taught you to do." (1 John 2:27)
How to use 🤍
It’s important to note that there is nothing special about the oil. The oil serves as a tactile tool for you in your prayer over the ones you love and your home. We stand on God's Word with prayer and use this anointing oil as an act of faith.
-Play worship music
-Start with prayer
-Don’t over complicate it
-Praying while anointing (using oil over doors and windows etc)
-Be confident, and command good and pure things in the name of Jesus
